Our host for the evening

Ria Lina has been entertaining both UK and international audiences with her dry wit and social commentary comedy songs for over 10 years. Prior to her career as a comic, Ria obtained a BSc in Experimental Pathology, an MSc in Forensic Science, and a PhD in viral bioinformatics, and then she worked as an IT Forensic Investigator for the Serious Fraud Office. We think you'll agree this makes her sufficiently qualified to host the evening.

Ria has been seen at clubs around the world from Glasgow to Singapore, Seattle to Australia. She was Winner of Best Comedy Show at the Greater Manchester Fringe and nominated for the Amused Moose Laughter Awards at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Ria's television appearances include The World Stands Up, Mega Mela Malai Comedy and Sweet n Sour on BBC3. She has also appeared in the Festival of the Spoken Nerd's An Evening Of Unnecessary Detail.

Dr Sam Gregson is The Bad Boy of Science; a physicist, science comedian and resident anarchist formerly of the University of Cambridge, and the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. He was the founder and project manager of LHComedy, CERN's first comedy show. Sam has made several media appearances explaining and championing science, including Genius by Stephen Hawking (Discovery Channel/PBS), Some Boffins with Jokes (BBC), The Naked Scientists (BBC). He has also spoken at TEDxCambridgeUniversity and, more importantly, at the Malvern Festival of Innovation in 2015.

Do you think you're a pretty reasonable, logical and rational person? Sam will show you just what nonsense that is during a fast paced, interactive and revelatory show that will reveal just how biased, presumptive and skewed your thinking really is!

Dr Martin Khechara is a science presenter, science theatre performer, writer, researcher, Fellow of Public Engagement for STEM at the University of Wolverhampton, and a microbiologist supreme!

Following on from the success of the hit science show for schools ‘Mission Transmission’, Dr K has taken the most disgusting and interactive aspects of this fantastic theatre-based show and created something especially for the grown-ups! With the help of the audience, Martin will explore the nature of disease transmission through human faeces, vomiting and by breathing in each-others airborne secretions. A strong stomach will be needed to watch this one-of-a-kind show that you will never be able to un-see! Biohazard PPE recommended.

Foxdog Studios (Lloyd Henning and Peter Sutton) are computer programmers who accidently turned live performers. They create comedy shows that put the audience in control of interactive games and DIY gadgets. Their last live show, Robot Chef, was a sell-out at the Edinburgh Fringe and had viewers cook sausage and beans by controlling a robot on their phones (a highlight being firing a hotdog from a cannon). As seen in WIRED Magazine, heard on BBC Radio 4 Extra, and listed in The Independent's Best of the Fringe 2018. Winners of the best show at Leicester Comedy Festival 2019, the Chortle Award for Innovation 2016, and two Malcolm Hardee Awards in 2016.
