Professor Peter Dobson is the Director of Oxford University's Begbroke Science Park where he has the responsibility of setting up new research institutes that combine University activities with company R&D facilitating the rapid transfer of technology and knowledge.
In 1999 he spun-off a company, now called Oxonica, that specialized in making nanoparticles for a wide range of applications. In 2000, with colleagues in Chemistry and Engineering, he spun-off Oxford Biosensors Ltd that made a hand-held medical devices. He is also currently the Strategic Advisor on Nanotechnology to the Research Councils in the UK. [download] |

Luke grew PizzaExpress from 12 owned restaurants in 1993 to over 250 when he sold out in 1999. He has since been involved in numerous restaurant and food-related businesses, including Patisserie Valerie and the Baker and Spice bakery chain. Charles Morgan is the Chairman of the Morgan Motor Company, and grandson of H.F.S Morgan, the original founder of the iconic motor brand. Charles's father managed the company before it was passed on to him.
Charles is also a motivational speaker, focusing on topics such as change management, people management, export and sales, and marketing. Previously, Charles worked in the publishing industry and was a cameraman for ITN for ten years. |

Colonel (retired) John Doody is Director of Interlocutor Services Ltd, a company that promotes information assurance and cyber security both nationally and internationally. Prior to this John served at CESG/GCHQ as Head of Information Assurance Customer Services. He was a major contributor to CESG’s move to a commercial business footing and promoted a strong external customer relationship and marketing effort.
John has also had a major role as a Non Executive Director within two security companies as well as providing Strategic Advice to a number of major UK and US IT Security companies. John is currently the Global Strategic Cyber Security Adviser to Ultra Electronics Limited. |

Dr Andrew Powell is the Chief Executive Officer of Asia BioBusiness Pte Ltd Singapore / Centre for Risk Communication Asia. Andrew was educated in Scotland at Ayr Academy and Edinburgh University and obtained his PhD in Plant Physiology from the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He has held research and academic positions in Crop Science at the University of Guelph, the National Institute of Human Sciences, Tokyo, the Medicinal Plant Research Station, Tsukuba, and the National University of Singapore.
Andrew has been working as a consultant for both the public and private sectors since 1994 and founded Asia BioBusiness with Professor Paul Teng in 2005. Clients include APEC, USDA, the US State Department, the Inter American Development Bank, the Chilean Ministry of Agriculture, the Asia Productivity Organization, and Tate and Lyle’s Open Innovation group. He is also trained in Risk Communication and is establishing a network of centers in the field in Latin America, Australia and New Zealand, Asia and the EU. |

Michael Goodfellow-Smith is director of QUEST For Future Solutions, and has international experience helping numerous inductry sectors to be more sustainable. He has expertise across low carbon economy/technologies; sustainable construction and community development; carbon capture, use and storage programmes; quality, health and environmental management systems; economic development frameworks and masterplanning.
Previously he was strategic advisor to Scottish Power and E.ON and worked for Yorkshire Forward as Assistant Director of Strategy. He is Coordinating Committee Member at Transition Malvern Hills, Committee Member for Malvern Community Forest, and sits on the Sheffield City Sustainable Development and Design Panel. |

Dr Simon Wiseman is the Chief Technology Officer for Deep-Secure Ltd. Simon joined Deep-Secure Ltd in 2010 following over 30 years working in the security field for the UK Ministry of Defence in its Research Establishments, including the Royal Signals and Radar Establishment (RSRE), Defence Research Agency (DRA), Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA) and QinetiQ Ltd, Malvern.
Simon was the prime technical focus behind the development of the Domain Based approach to security that was adopted by the Ministry of Defence and then incorporated into HMG Infosec policy. He was also the Technical Architect for QinetiQ’s SyBard range of desktop and guard security software and hardware. |

Lt Col Ian Buchanan was commissioned in to the Infantry in 1984, undertaking periods of duty in BAOR, UK and several operational tours to Northern Ireland, Bosnia and more recently to Sierra Leone. He has also served in various staff roles including Procurement and as the primary user representative for a major IT/IS project.
In 2001 he undertook a MSc in the Design of Information Systems (DIS) before transferring to the Royal Signals in 2003. In 2008 he was posted to DSTL as SO1 Cyber and Influence within the newly formed Cyber & Influence Science and Technology Centre. In January 2011 he was posted to the Ministry of Defence and now works in the Defence Cyber Security Programme Office. |

Alastair Shortland founded Textlocal as a bedroom start-up and built "version 1" of Messenger. His driving vision was to introduce the power of mobile messaging to the mass market – simple, low cost instant communication for any business, service or community group. He now leads a team of technology experts at the Malvern Hills Science Park, managing the flow of more than 30 million SMS texts per month, customer support and product development.
Alastair studied Computer Science in Nottingham before working for the Defence giant QinetiQ, and then on several projects for The Met Office and European Air Traffic Control. He is now a mobile marketing expert and evangelist and is happy to talk at length any time about the subject with anyone who will listen! |

Dr David Hardman MBE is Chief Executive Officer of Birmingham Science Park Aston (BSPA). At BSPA the focus is on ICT, digital media and clean technologies, reflecting the strengths of the city region, driving the concept of the ‘science park without walls’.
As a PhD microbiologist, his research interests were directed towards the application of microbes in what would now be called ‘clean technology’. As part of this work he co-founded a start-up biotech venture based on the application of biocatalysts to the paper industry. David spent 10 years based in Cambridge leading the commercial development of the healthcare and biotech Babraham Research Campus. David was awarded an MBE for services to science in 2009. |

This comprises of the Design Council’s mentoring programmes for business, science and public services as well as co-ordination activities supporting the UK design industry. Ellie leads a national team to deliver these programmes across the UK, with partners in the private and public sector as well as a network of leading Design Associates.
Prior to this Ellie established and led the Design Council’s work in scientific innovation resulting in a new service for technology ventures, the results of which informed the key recommendations for design within the Sainsbury Review in 2007. Chris Boulton has been investing in Private Equity and Venture Capital opportunities since the early 1990s, initially with 3i in the UK before moving to Japan to set up a team and fund to invest in LBOs. In 2001 he structured and led the first Western-style buyout of a Japanese company from Nissan. Moving to Singapore in 2003, Chris advised HSBC PE&VC Asian funds and continues as a Non Executive Director on the boards of investee companies.
An occasional lecturer at INSEAD he was also involved with Government initiatives to promote entrepreneurship including serving as Co-Chair of the SEEDs Fund Investment Committee. Chris now lectures part-time at Worcester University Business School. He has a BSc (Econ) from London, MBA from Warwick, and is a (rusty!) Chinese speaker. |
